And here we come to the end of the mini book devoted entirely to the next Academy Awards 2014 (held at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on March 2nd). After having presented the nominees for the Best Picture category here, those for Best Starring finally here and those for Best Starring not here, we want to conclude by praising a little 'our Italian.

Since 1957, the year in which it was established the category of Best Foreign Language Film, we won 10 statuettes, to which are added 3 Special Awards / Fees, won in 1948 with Shoeshine (Vittorio De Sica), in 1950 with The Bicycle Thief (Vittorio De Sica) and in 1951 with The Walls of Malapaga (Italian-French production, directed by René Clément). These numbers make Italy the country best visual effects to have won the most Awards in this category, closely followed by France (with 12 victories, including three Special Prizes / Fees & 36 nominations). best visual effects
As we have already mentioned, this year Italy has a chance to win with the masterpiece by Paolo Sorrentino, Big Beauty (winner of the Golden Globe and the BAFTA in the same category). Its competitors are: Alabama Monroe - A love story, Felix Van Groningen (Belgium) best visual effects The suspect, Thomas Vinterberg (Denmark) The Missing Picture, Rithy Panh (Cambodia) Omar, Hany Abu-Assad (Palestine) .
Now we have to wait for March 2 to find out if, after 15 years since the victory, we can proudly added to this prestigious list with another victory. Meanwhile, fingers crossed!
